Australia Zoo didn't cause the demise of the big pinapple. The Nabour bypass of the Bruce Highway killed the big pinapple. Despite it's rather obscure location Steve Irwin was able to promote his zoo effectively to make it a desirable destination. If Aust. Zoo can become a resort style destination it's going to be a bonus to that area of the sunshine coast being, as it were, a bit of a hinterland between Brisbane and the sunshine coast.
