THREE people have been attacked and injured by pitbull cross dogs in Perth`s south.
Police received a call from rangers at 11.43am (WST) today saying two dogs were roaming around Rockingham Road in Spearwood.
Inspector George Putland said the dogs had attacked a ranger and two local residents.
Police closed off surrounding streets as they hunted down the animals, shooting one dead with two shots from a service pistol.
"Unfortunately, police had to destroy one of the dogs, a male pit bull cross.
"The other dog, was captured and taken in by the rangers."
St John Ambulance Perth manager Bruce Fraser said a ranger was set upon by one of the dogs and when two residents came to his aid they were also attacked.
All three were treated at the scene, then taken to Fremantle hospital.
Mr Fraser said they had multiple cuts to their arms, legs, chest and face, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
A Fremantle hospital spokesman later said the three people`s wounds were superficial and they were all in a stable condition.
