TWO boys are in intensive care in Gold Coast Hospital after crashing a family car into a power pole during a joyride, police said.

Police said the silver car, allegedly driven by a 15-year-old boy, crashed into a power pole at the intersection of Wallandra Drive and Strike Way at Mudgeeraba at about 5.40am (AEST) today.

Police said the road was wet from heavy rain and forensic crash unit officers were investigating.

This is the second serious accident involving a teenage boy joyriding in a family car in just over a week.

A 15-year-old boy was critically injured when he crashed his mother`s car on Christmas Creek Road at Beaudesert, west of Brisbane, on May 23.
