PARRAMATTA coach Michael Hagan has called for action against Brisbane and Queensland centre Justin Hodges over an off-the-ball attack - while Eels and NSW centre Jarryd Hayne described his own Origin-threatening incident as "ugly".Hodges, Hayne and Queensland forward Sam Thaiday are all in jeopardy of missing Origin II at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday week following tackles in last night`s thriller at the same venue.
On a night of high drama, Hayne was booked for tackling Broncos back-rower Tonie Carroll heavily after the referee had blown the whistle, 19 minutes into the 30-26 win by the Broncos.
"Of course I was worried - it ended up looking pretty ugly," Hayne told The Saturday Daily Telegraph. "We`ll see what happens."
Three minutes later, Hodges picked up Eels hooker Mark Riddell after he passed the ball and dumped him on his head.
The incident was initially missed by referee Jason Robinson but he was later tipped off by fourth official Steve Clark and the incident was also booked. "That was worse than Haynsey`s," Eels half-back Brett Finch said of the incident
Asked if he expected action to be taken, Hagan said: "That was off the ball and late and he tipped him on his head. I think there would certainly be some concern for that one."
Riddell commented: "I don`t want to talk about it, what am I going to say?" while Hodges declined to front media representatives.
Team doctor Michael Johnson said Riddell had experienced "neck soreness" but nothing more serious.
The Thaiday doubt arose from a tackle earlier in the game, when he and hooker Michael Ennis were involved in a lifting tackle on Parramatta second-rower Weller Hauraki that earned a penalty but no report.
Both sides were unhappy with Robinson, who also booked Parramatta`s Brendan Oake for lifting his forearm as he threw the final pass for a Luke Burt try four minutes after half-time.
"That should have been no-try," said Broncos coach Wayne Bennett. "Denan Kemp couldn`t affect the tackle because he got his nose broken when he got an elbow into his head."
