AN elderly pedestrian has died in a Melbourne hospital after she was struck by a car in the city`s south last night.
The 75-year-old Frankston woman was struck as she crossed the Nepean Highway at Chelsea about 7.30pm (AEST), police said.
She was taken to The Alfred hospital but died a short time later.
The driver, a Mornington man, 49, was not injured.
Police have asked for witnesses to come forward.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The death takes Victoria`s annual road toll to 138, 13 more than at the same time last year.
