 Annoyed ... Charlotte Church / Reuters |
WELSH opera singer-turned TV host Charlotte Church has criticised fellow chat show presenter Michael Parkinson.
The former songstress, 20, said the TV veteran`s questions had been out of line when he interviewed her as a guest on his show.
Charlotte, whose own Channel 4 talk show got a critical mauling but is returning for another series, said: "I`m not a sissy, but there`s a line that you shouldn`t cross."
She told the Radio Times magazine: "I know how uncomfortable it can be. The producers suggest questions - `Ask Ashlee Simpson about the plastic surgery rumours` I go, `No, she`s 22. If she`s had plastic surgery (a rumoured nose job), it would have been because she`s so insecure. I`m not going to bring that up.`
"Michael Parkinson asked me, `How`s your sex life?` I said, `Mr Parkinson, are you serious?` He went, `Oh, sorry, I shouldn`t have asked that.`
"Damn right he shouldn`t," the Welsh star said, "he`s old enough to be my grandad."
Last year, Parkinson appeared to criticise Church days after her talk show debut, saying: "I saw the new show and I think if I was her producer I would have a word with her... She need not swear so much, she need not remind us all the time that she`s Welsh."
Despite not setting the TV schedules alight, with 1.9 million viewers, Channel 4 has commissioned two more runs of The Charlotte Church Show.
The singer-turned-presenter said: "I`m a lot more experienced now. I know what I`m doing."
