A BITINGLY witty Italian film about seven-time prime minister Giulio Andreotti has won Cannes` Jury prize.
Il Divo by Paolo Sorrentino, 37, was one of two Italian films competing for the Palme d`Or that focused on politics and corruption in Italy. It charts the fall from grace of Mr Andreotti, now 89 and a senator for life, who spent a half-century swirling in the political waters of Italy.
"I was aiming to look at a period in our history that is already being swept aside," the director said at Cannes.
