Bring out old cases: Williams |

PORT Adelaide coach Mark Williams says the time has arrived for the AFL tribunal system to set a precedent through video evidence."They call on precedents to be shown, I think think it`s about time," Williams said amid his passionate plea.
"The tribunal certainly talks and acts as a court of law and in a court of law a precedent can be shown and is always shown.
"But you can never show a piece of video that might support your evidence from another incident (at the AFL tribunal). I`m thinking it has to get down that track."
AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said the league would accept any submission from Williams and the coaches` association. However, it is unclear whether the premiership mentor will be fined for his planned outburst.
"That`s their (coaches` association) right to do so," Keane said of a submission.
"Each year we go through our tribunal process and say: `What things to do we need to examine?`
"And obviously on a particular decision, the club has a right to make an appeal."
So why didn`t the club appeal - by Wednesday`s deadline - the decision to suspend Shaun Burgoyne for three matches?
"We`ve attempted to appeal before and it`s very difficult," Williams said.
"It is a very legal system, based on legal arguments and you just find it very difficult to win a legal argument.
"Based on legal argument all my advice is that all we can do now is bring in another camera angle or something, which there isn`t.
"It would be a complete waste of time and particularly money for our case. I`m sure other richer clubs would spend the money."
