Williams apologises to Port players

19.05.2008
PORT Adelaide captain Warren Tredrea says Hawthorn forward Mark Williams has attempted to call half the Power team to apologise for his choking gesture at the end of Saturday`s AFL match.

Williams made the gesture after kicking the final goal of a game the Hawks won despite trailing by more than six goals at half time.

The result leaves Port Adelaide in a precarious position but Tredrea is convinced their best football is good enough for them to make an impact this season.

Hawthorn captain Sam Mitchell said Williams was shattered after game.

Mitchell said there was still room in the game for players to express themselves, but it must be done on a positive way.

The Hawks captain suffered concussion early in the match after a hit from Port midfielder Shaun Burgoyne but said he would be available for Sunday`s match against Melbourne at the MCG.
