Police probe Harry`s high-speed dash

BRITISH police are investigating a complaint from a driver who says he was tailgated at high speeds by officers trying to keep up with a sports car carrying Prince Harry.

Tim Williams, 33, was driving on a motorway just west of London last Saturday when an Audi R8, which he later spotted with Harry in the passenger seat, raced past him at more than 160km/h, the Mail on Sunday reported.

Mr Williams then pulled into the outside lane but saw an unmarked Range Rover bearing down on him in his rear view mirror at a similar speed, flashing its headlights and with blue police warning lights on, it said.

But he said he could not change lanes because of heavy traffic and was tailgated by the 4x4, forcing him to speed up to almost 160 km/h.

Senior members of the royal family are guarded by police protection officers. The speed limit on British motorways is 70mph (112km/h.

Harry, 23, is reported to have spent that night at Boujis, a London nightclub where he is often photographed.

Mr Williams, who was travelling with his wife, sister-in-law and baby, has complained to police.

"How dare they put the lives of motorists at risk?" he told the paper.

"They intimidated me and my family. It was really dangerous and I`m furious that they think they can drive like this just because of who they are."

A police spokeswoman said they had received a complaint.

"It`s being looked into."

A royal spokeswoman said: "That`s a matter for police."

The report is the latest in a run of bad publicity for Harry and his brother Prince William, sons of heir to the throne Prince Charles and the late princess Diana.

Last month, William attracted press criticism after landing a Royal Air Force helicopter in the garden of his girlfriend Kate Middleton`s family home during his training as a pilot.
