I agree with Tim in that we appear to have some less enlightened people, but this forum is representitive of our nation and as such we should not poo bah any even if we think what they say is abhorent; that is the perceived racism. After all for us to do any less we would be as bad as the crazy nations that a lot of these people have indeed escpaed from. That said perhaps one should consider if the muslims and jews were a bit more tolerant and open and would perhaps meet the rest of us half way then maybe we would not have the issues we are on the verge of having in this great free nation of ours. That's the Australian Government for you. Liberal or Labor, they always put the minorities (particularly the most divisive) ahead of the rest of us.

Katherine And Rob, You guys are dead on this is "supposed" to be a multicultural country, and in order for australia to be a mixed population they need to be able to interact with each other. School is where you discover yourself, and other people from all backgrounds with all kinds of beliefs. There should only be public schools in Australia. The best way to get people to understand and above all ACCEPT others is to interact and introduce themselfs what better way to do this when your at the age where everything intreeges you (during primary school). All this segregation that these religous groups tend to do only breeds friction and hatred as they are in Australia and not willing to adapt to the Australian multicultured lifestyle. Above all tax payers should not have to fork out special security measures for these private religous schools. They themselfs promote an anti multiculture and segregation between cultures. Are you's blind??Also if they are the schools requesting all this security get there church to pay for it. Howard already offeredthe Jewish community tax deductibility for security spending on schools.
