A PART-TIME police office went on a shooting rampage in the US state of Wisconsin today, killing at least five people.

Crandon Police Chief John Dennee could not say whether the suspect was one of the five confirmed dead but he did tell AP, "We`re not looking for anybody anymore."

Police officers told AP the shooter was an employee of the Forest County Sheriff`s Department and a part-time officer for the Crandon Police Department.

"It`s a pretty tragic situation here,`` Forest County Supervisor Tom Vollmar told AP. "There are five or six people dead.``

The shooting has rocked the small town of Crandon, in north-east Wisconsin. With a population of just over 2000, the town is normally known for logging, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.
