Gun laws in America need to be changed - the twisted thinking of "if I have a gun, I can shoot the shooter," does not work - it just means more people have guns, and there are more shootings.I hope Australia does not follow in America's footsteps in this regard.

Interesting, I think gun doesn't kill people but bullet does, thus gun should be accessible while bullet's distribution needs to be controlled.

I used to think I had a good handle on the issue of guns in America, but it wasn't until coming to live here that I realised how misinformed I was.You can't compare the Australian experience to the situation here.Yes, shootings are far more common and the murder rate is higher here but overall there is much less violent crime than in Australia. Good or bad, guns are an important part of American culture and that won't change.Considering the millions of guns here it speaks well of American society that gun crime isn't a hundred times higher.Greg of Las Vegas.
