WELL...it's been a long time since the general population of Japan has had much desire for ''whale products''... this present situation has been brought about by... the ''usual'' right wing/national front groups..who believe whaling is part of their mandate...as the direct decendants of ..erthe GOD of all things pure and bountiful....you see the same groups in every country... you know in Australia...they are the ones who believe Don Bradman and Gary Ablett(no disrespect indended) are also the direct decendants of...er...the GOD of um...sport...and that waiting to greet ''us'' in heaven is some white fellow...with corks around his hat.

First of all, the report by Asahi Shimbun came out on Feb 2, not yesterday. It says that the ICR couldn't repay $10 million of the $36 mllion short-term loan, and arranged to pay the remainin $10 million over the next 4 years. The report says that the direct cause of this shortage is the drop of supply caused by accidents that happend to the whaling ships.Other reasons include increase of operating cost, and price cut which was done in the previous year.Demand did in fact incease in this fiscal year in quantity, but not enough to cover these factors.ICR says that they'll be able to cut even once the whaling returns to normal operation.
