- Thousands of BB fans tricked into watching porn
- Porn site said it offered pirated live BB stream
- BB debuts with smallest audience in seven years
BIG BROTHER has got off to a rocky start with low ratings and an internet porn site tricking thousands of fans by claiming to offer a pirated live stream of the program but then showing hardcore porn.
Channel Ten`s Big Brother site experienced security problems when fans tried to sign up for premium content which provides a live stream of the show.
The Daily Telegraph reported the pirate site last night promised fans of the show that construction was in progress and to come back today for a live stream.
However when thousands of fans logged on the site this morning, widely publicised on sites including The Daily Telegraph Online, they were served hardcore pornography.
The scam appears to have been an elaborate marketing campaign to lure a large base of fans for the popular show to a fledgling porn site.
Small audience
Meanwhile, Big Brother debuted last night with its smallest audience for a season premiere in its seven years but still helped Channel 10 to its best Sunday night of the year.
The pre-recorded two-hour premiere, which introduced 12 new housemates and gave viewers the chance to choose two more, was watched by an average of 1.55 million viewers.
Tonight, insiders on the show have promised "the biggest secret in the show`s history" will be unveiled.
Possible revelations include what host Gretel Killeen meant when she made mention of "Mr X" or further details of the two previous relationships in the house that only one housemate knows about.
