CHANNEL 7 has pledged unqualified support for Naomi Robson in her defamation suit against Sydney`s 2GB brekkie presenter Mike Carlton.

While the case was adjourned until May 21 in the NSW Supreme Court yesterday, Seven news and current affairs boss Peter Meakin said he didn`t need to hear its merits before backing the former Today Tonight presenter.

"I haven`t spoken to Naomi about the case, but she has our 100 per cent support," he said yesterday. "But I`ll be leaving any comments about the case up to her lawyers."

But Mallesons Stephen Jacques, for Robson, also declined to discuss the case, which revolves around a satirical piece Carlton played about her career after she quit her current affairs gig last year.
