I think the gutsiest performances that we will see in the Olympics will be from athletes who use their moment on the world stage to draw attention to the plight of the thousands who are tortured or killed each year by the Beijing Government. This means when you athletes stand up to receive your medal why not take with you a sign of protest such as the Reporters Without Borders flag featuring handcuffs in place of the Olympic rings that was used by RSF at their protest on the weekend. While we appreciate the hard work that our athletes put into their training and do not want to see them miss out on their big event, when the race is run why not do something amazing for those who are in chains at the time you are awarded your medal. That would truly give you a place in history.

people should study the history of the olympics. It was started by aristocratic elitist and run by facist for decades. Its always been the personal property of the rich, powerful and corrupt...with the idiots coming out every 4 years to throw money at them. we already paid for the Olympics to be held in Sydney, therefore we already have blood on our hands.... Oh and Howard also set a precedent by allowing the US to bring their own armed security forces for Bush and Cheneys visits so technically the Chinese request aint really that outrageous, as our leaders have shown the world they gladly bend over for any nation that pays us enough.

I am just amazed how this media reports news and strongly doubt about the accuracy of this news. China will not be that stupid to send `Army? to Australia or any other countries, because the action will disobey its own policy of not meddling other countries? business. The Chinese embassy might just asked Australian IOC if any sort of assistance is needed. This media is trying to use the exaggerated word `Army? to stir the hatred to China. Oh, now I know what is the definition for fair reporting in this media. It is just as misleading as those they blame. However, for those people who post emotional comments, who only yell `boycott?, `sanction?, but not offering any substance, this report is just another golden opportunity to keep bashing other countries.I doubt my post will pass the censor of this media?
