HORROR fans can expect a grisly treat this month when MySpace starts pumping out its series of five-minute webisodes from cult movie studio Hammer Films.
After 30 years in the wilderness, the filmmakers` first flick off the chopping block is Beyond The Rave, starring Jamie Dornan, Nora-Jane Noone and Sadie Frost.
Produced by Ben Grass, Beyond the Rave follows the story of Ed, a British soldier who decides to have one last fling before his deployment to Iraq the following morning. He goes in search of his girlfriend, Jen, who was last seen with a mysterious group of hardcore ravers.
With the help of his best friend, Necro, he finds Jen deep in a remote forest, discovering more than just a night of hedonistic partying and that not all his friends will make it through the night.
The Pure Gross Film production is MySpaceTV’s first UK co-production and will be broadcast in five-minute instalments on MySpaceTV as 20 "webisodes", before being released as a full length movie on DVD, and available for download.
It could see couples huddle up against the computer instead of cuddling in front of the big screen.
James Fabricant, Director of Entertainment and Head of Video, MySpace Europe, believes this new production method will revolutionise the way films are released and marketed.
“For Hammer to make their first movie in 30 years specifically for the MySpace community is a phenomenal development and shows the dramatic change in how consumers want to access content.”
The film will premiere its first instalment on April 17.
