A WITNESS in a New Zealand courtroom is believed to have made history last week by giving evidence topless.
Janet Robertshawe, 36, a solicitor, was called to give evidence in the case against a practitioner of alternative medicine who has been accused of assaulting three women patients, The Manawatu Standard reported.
It`s alleged the man, whose name and job were suppressed, touched the breasts of two of his patients and the breast and genitals of another.
Robertshawe volunteered to be part of a demonstration, by the accused, of how he massaged his clients.
She entered the Palmerston North District Courtroom dressed in a robe and lay face down on a massage table dressed only in her bra and underwear, the newspaper said.
As the procedure began, Robertshawe`s bra was undone and she was moved onto her left side, facing the jury.
The rigorous massaging caused her bra to shake free, exposing her breasts to the court.
"We can promise you it won`t appear on YouTube," defence counsel Robert Lithgow reportedly said.
