At least six dead in military bus blast

29.09.2008

AT least six people were killed today in a blast targeting a military bus on the outskirts of the northern Lebanese port city of Tripoli, a security official said.

"We have at least six people killed, three of them soldiers," the official said.

"We have about 12 other people injured."

He said the bomb went off in the Bahsas region as the mini-bus heading towards the capital Beirut drove by. There were about 24 passengers on board.

Police and the army immediately cordoned off the area as forensic experts began gathering evidence.
