News.com.au is renewing its commitment to covering environmental news with a relaunched section devoted to the impact of climate change.

And after looking over more than 500 entries there is the announcement tomorrow of our 2008 Green Awards winners in a virtual ceremony you can watch online with special guests Ian Kiernan, Deni Hines, Jonathan Pease and Axle Whitehead.

As well as all the latest news, the Climate Change section features an interactive multimedia “environmental dashboard” showing key indicators updated in real time and giving a snapshot on the current health of the planet.

You can see what the current population is, how long until the next species of plant or animal becomes extinct, the global temperature rise and the rise in sea levels, carbon emissions and rates of deforestation so far this century.

The data used is largely taken from expert projections gathered by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

News.com.au is also launching a special survey so you can let us know your views on key environmental questions.

Do you believe there is enough scientific evidence to make the case for climate change as a global threat? How much is it going to affect your life?

Should we adopt nuclear power as a way ahead or is this a complete taboo?
