Libs spill `same horse, different jockey`

15.09.2008

IF the Liberal Party changes leader it will be a case of "same horse, different jockey", the Federal Government says.

Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson will recontest the Liberal leadership tomorrow after calling a spill.

In a statement, Dr Nelson said if he was reendorsed he would be the asking to draw a line in the sand and mark a transition for the Liberals, which has been plagued for months by leadership tensions.

Treasurer Wayne Swan said the Liberals did not have much of a choice.

"What are you choosing between?" he said.

"You`re choosing between any number of candidates who all support WorkChoices, all support slashing the surplus and acting in an economically irresponsible way.

"Same horse, different jockey."
