Whatever it takes ... brave singles are plastering themselves across billboards in their underwear in Sydney in the hope of finding love.

  • Singles advertise on billboards for romance
  • Tired of "stigmas attached to dating"
  • Billboards eliminate "mixed messages"

IT`S a grassroots plan on a grand scale that gives new meaning to putting yourself out there.

Ten brave singles will plaster themselves across six billboards in Sydney from today in the hope of finding love.

Billboards will feature five men and five women, dressed in their underwear, asking commuters to register interest on a website.

The plan is the brainchild of North Sydney single woman Bea Obradovic, 40.

Tired of stigmas attached to dating and frustrated by her own experiences with internet sites, Ms Obradovic decided "it was time for drastic action".

With no financial backing or corporate sponsorship, Ms Obradovic has funded the project entirely on her own.

She refinanced her house to pay for the ads and hired PR guru and cricket wife Rachel Friend to get her message out.

Ms Obradovic said she hopes the project will counter the perception of singles as "desperate".

"There is nothing embarrassing about wanting companionship," she said.

"There is nothing wrong with admitting you don`t want to spend the rest of your life alone."

She said the notices eliminated the mixed messages that can make internet dating difficult.

"These are just good, decent people, who want to find genuine, lasting relationships," she said.

Billboards will be erected on main roads and freeways at Ashfield, Blakehurst, Tempe, Wyatt Park, Liverpool and Arncliffe.
