13.09.2008

A STRONG wind warning is in place for much of Victoria over the next two days, with residents being asked to take precautions.

The Weather Bureau is predicting strong damaging winds averaging 50km/h to 70km/h, with gusts of up to 100km/h possible.

Northerly winds may strengthen tomorrow afternoon and into Monday.

The State Emergency Service (SES) said people should be alert to debris and fallen branches on roads and all outdoor items should be secured.

The warning includes the central, southern and mountain districts, except Northern and Mallee districts.
