ALL Saints star Virginia Gay has identified as the victim of a violent attempted robbery by two men believed to have bashed another victim to death only minutes later.
The 26-year-old actor was reportedly attacked about 11.50pm (AEST) on Friday on Illawarra Road at Marrickville in Sydney`s inner west.
She was punched repeatedly in the face and was lucky not to have been killed by the blows.
Fairfax newspapers today named the female victim as Virginia Gay, star of Channel 7`s All Saints.
They said Gay, who plays nurse Gabrielle Jaeger in the TV series, grew up in the city`s inner west.
Cameron`s Management, which represents Gay, said based on police advice it would not be commenting on the matter.
Some 15 minutes after the woman was attacked, 30-year-old chef Daniel Owen was found near death in the driveway of his Marrickville apartment block.
He died as ambulance officers tried to save him.
Detectives want to speak with two men aged between 18 and 25 in relation to the attacks.
The first man is described as about 188cm tall and weighing about 110kg. He is muscular and slightly chubby, with light olive skin, a shaved head and a clean-shaven face.
He was not wearing a shirt at the time of the attack.
The second man is described as about 170cm tall, and weighing 65kg. He is slim with dark skin, and possibly had a shaved head.
He was last seen wearing a plain short-sleeved baggy white T-shirt and dark baggy shorts with white sneakers.
Police are expected to release further details of the incident at a news conference early this afternoon.
