A BANDIT wound up with a broken nose and arm after being wrestled to the ground in a citizen`s arrest in Melbourne.
The 26-year-old Wheelers Hill man allegedly walked into a Safeway liquor outlet in Jells Road, Wheelers Hill, telling staff he had a gun about 6.30pm (AEST) yesterday.
Police said he fled with a sum of cash but was chased by four employees, who wrestled him to the ground. He suffered a broken arm and nose in the incident and no firearm was found.
He was treated at a nearby hospital before being taken to Glen Waverley Police Station and charged with robbery.
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates` Court today.
Meanwhile, police are hunting two men over a separate armed robbery on a liquor shop in Taylors Road, Delahey, just before 8pm (AEST) yesterday.
Police said two men, one armed with a pistol, stole cash from the till before fleeing.
Both men are described as caucasian, about 183cm tall and aged in their 20s to early 30s.
The man with the pistol was wearing a beanie, a scarf and a striped, fluorescent worker`s jacket.
The second man used his shirt collar to cover his face.
