"I don`t really mind if people think I am a girl, or a black girl,`` the 23-year-old said.
"In fact, I am really glad because it (Bull`s voice) has been a big talking point."I am very comfortable being a little bit strange or something like that.``
The Sydney singer and songwriter is all ready for a massive 2009 with the release of his yet-to-be-titled debut album.
His sound has been likened to a mixture of Alicia Keys, Mika, Justin Timberlake and early honky-tonk rock by Elton John.
The young muso signed to Universal Music/Island Records at the end of last year, having already completed 90 per cent of his debut album before penning the deal.
Bull has spent this year touring, as well as putting the finishing touches to the debut album.
His first single, Small Town Girl, is out this weekend with commercial radio already playing the track heavily, and the debut album will be released early next year.
"It`s my first album and you have your first album in your head forever and ever, from the age of, like, 15 or whatever,`` Bull explained.
"None of it has been a fluke. It really has been about keeping focus.``
Bull recorded the album in Sydney and New York, where he spent time in the studio with Kanye West. He`s also worked with Joss Stone.
I am just really revelling in the fact that people are hearing my music,`` Bull said.
