The result put sales for the first half of 2008 up 3.5 per cent at 542,695 and on track to top one million for the full year.

Toyota was the top selling company last month with 25,624 vehicles, ahead of Holden on 11,968 and Ford on 10,286.

On a year-to-date basis Toyota was also well ahead with sales of 127,440 vehicles, compared to 67,123 for Holden.
