THE wife of former childcare boss Eddy Groves has formed a business with the ex-chief of a stockbroker that conducted work with ABC Learning Centres.
The business venture is the latest in a series of ties between people associated with ABC, which collapsed in November with debts exceeding $1.6 billion.
The news comes as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission goes to the Federal Court in Sydney today in an attempt to freeze Mr Groves` assets and those of his wife Viryan Collins-Rubie.
The couple are contesting the matter.
Ms Collins-Rubie was registered as a director and secretary of a company created this month called Stonehaven Investments No. 1, which is based at the couple`s home in Currumbin.
The other director is John Wheeler.
Mr Wheeler was formerly chief executive of Austock, which had a long association with ABC, including conducting $27 million worth of work in fiscal 2006.
Mr Wheeler, who described himself as retired, declined to give details about the new company`s activities. He said Stonehaven "was not affected by anything in the past".
The Courier-Mail last month revealed a key ABC contractor had listed making a $3.8 million loan to a John Wheeler, although the former Austock chief said he had never received any such loan.
