USING his trusty BB gun to help him return to Earth, a 48-year-old service station owner has flown a lawn chair rigged with more than 150 helium balloons more than 320km across the US.
Kent Couch created a sensation when he touched down in an Idaho pasture after covering about 380km from Oregon in about nine hours.
Mr Couch, holding a big mug of coffee, lifted off after kissing his wife and children goodbye.
"If I had the time and money and people, I`d do this every weekend," he said.
His wife Susan called him crazy.
This was Mr Couch`s third balloon flight. He realised it was possible after watching a TV show about the 1982 flight of "Lawnchair Larry" Walters.
But in Brazil, the body of fellow balloonist Father Adelir de Carli, the "flying priest", has been recovered about 100km off the coast, three months after he disappeared.
